Living the Outdoor Code

The Outdoor Code is a big part of scouting centered around learning to respect nature and take care of our environment.

A mess kit is something you can bring to each campout in order to reduce the amount of plastics we use at our events! Walmart has a full 4 pack for only $5!!

Did you see us at the parade?

Awards Night in Pack 451

We couldn't be more proud of our scouts earning their ranks this year.  It was the first time in a while that we got to get together and celebrate each others' achievement.  Congratulations Scouts!

"Do Your Best"

The Cub Scout moto is "Do Your Best", and our Webelos (4th graders) did while attempting to build these candle holders.

We learned about the importance of having a sharp chisel and how to sharpen one on a sharpening stone.  Turns out a sharp chisel is safer to use than a dull one.  (It cuts easier giving you more control with less force.)

Admittedly, our projects didn't come out exactly like the picture, but it was fun anyway.

Do a Good Deed

When a scout earns a new rank, the badge is pinned upside-down on their uniform until they do a good deed.  Once that happens, the badge can be turned right-side-up and sewn onto the uniform.

A service project like working at Bernie's Book Bank is a great way to do a good deed.  Great job Pack 451!

Congratulations to our Graduates

Congratulations to our Arrow of Light Scouts on completing Cub Scouts and crossing over into Scouts BSA to continue their scouting adventures.  Our annual Blue and Gold celebration was today.  Thanks to the troop scouts for being there to welcome the new graduates!

Pinewood Derby 2022!

The derby is back in person!  Virtual was good for last year but nothing beats watching the scouts as they see the cars they built themselves go down the track.

What's the most important part of the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby?  The parent oath.

I understand and agree that the following statements are true:

The purpose of the pinewood derby is to build a car WITH my Cub Scout.
The race held today is a fun event for the children to enjoy.
This is a silly event for kids to play with the cars they made.

The race will not be fair.
One lane is faster than the others.
The cars were not lined up right.
And it doesn't matter.

I therefore promise:
I will not complain.
I will not try to fix the track.
I will not try to explain to the leaders how to do it right.
I will only praise and support the races
and I promise always to behave myself.
I swear to follow these rules.
